Odds and Ends for this week's dance action in Tidewater

Hello Dancers,

Thanks to the dancers who came to our last dance. As usual everyone took to
the basic Two-Step class like ducks take to water. The dance is so easy to
teach and everyone seems to enjoy dancing it. The Cha-Cha class was a little
harder as we taught an intermediate move but we were impressed by the
results. This week we will teach a basic East Coast swing at 6:30. At 7:00
we will teach another Cha-Cha move.

The song of the week is "Waiting for me" by Tania Maria. I was unable to
find a audio clip for this but bring the CD to our Sunday night dance each
week. "Waiting for me" is an excellent Cha-Cha featuring the distinctive
vocals of Tania Maria. The CD can be purchased among other places from the

Dance tip of the week:
Can dancers be teachers also?
Judy and I consider ourselves to be versatile dancers with several decent
moves and patterns in most dances. More in some, less in others. Lately we
have been asked to teach others to dance. Having been dancers for several
years now, with not too many complaints from our partners, we felt we were
at least qualified to teach the basic dances. But, we found that although we
danced ok, we had a long way to go before we could teach others. As any good
instructor knows, first you need a lesson plan. You also have to pick out
music, a dance syllabus, and put it all together in an organized,
understandable way. Did you think to tell the students which foot to start
on? These are some of the simple things that can get overlooked. We are
finding out quickly that dancing is one thing and teaching dancing is
something else again.

So, the answer to the question is yes, dancers can be a teachers but not
until the dancers re-educate themselves first.
