Hello Dancers,

Thanks to all the dancers who came to our last dance. We really appreciate
all the support our dance has received from the community. Now, we would
like to introduce more people to social dancing. Tell a friend about our
dance. If they just want to come and watch they are still more than welcome.

Last week the Waltz basic class went very well and the Cha-Cha move went
over well also. The 6:30 lesson will be on beginning Foxtrot and as promised
we will teach a new Cha-Cha move at the 7:00 lesson. Nest month the featured
dance is Country Two-Step.

The song of the week is a nice tempo Waltz sung by Williamsburg resident
Bruce Hornsby. The song is "Nobody there but me". I have the song on a
soundtrack from the movie "Tin Cup". We went to the movie and really liked
the music. For a waltz to be included was a big bonus. Not too many popular
artists outside of Country-Western record songs in 3/4 time. You have to
keep your ears open all the time to find them. A clip from this waltz can be
heard on the Amazon.com site. Type "Tin Cup" in the search box to find it.
If you want to hear the entire Waltz this Sunday come to our social dance.

Judy and I will be attending the Spring Ball hosted by "A Time to Dance"
studio this Saturday. March 29th. It will be held at the Norfolk Sheraton
Waterside in the Grand Ballroom! The band will be Salsa Y Mas, a 13 member
Latin Band. Dance Director Rick Hockman will DJ during the breaks. Also, a
professional Latin Dance Show will be performed by A TIME TO DANCE!  More

Dance Tip of the week:
When we dance, we dance to music. The beat, or rhythm keeps us on time but
the melody gives us the feel of the music and sets the mood for dancing. We
all have different preferences in music. But, all dancers need inspiring
music for dancing. Being a dancer has made many of us more aware of the
music that we like, listen and dance to. Not everything played on the radio
is good music, but it wouldn't hurt to search around once in a while. There
are a couple of AM stations with good non-mainstream music. Also both
Norfolk State and Hampton University have FM radio stations that sometimes
play good blues and jazz. (Great for swing) An excellent local FM station is
WFOS, aired by the Chesapeake School System. They play all kinds of music
and very little of it "mainstream". If your taste is Latin, listen to
Roberto when he hosts Hispanic Sounds on WHOV 88.1 FM some Saturday
mornings. Every time you walk in a music store listen to the CDs they have
out for a sample. Speaking of CDs, Roberto has some very good dance and
listening music on is albums which are available on his web site

If you are a dancer, keep a pencil and pad handy to jot down the song and
possibly artist. If you only hear some lyrics a search on GOOGLE will
quickly produce the song you want. Before you know it you will have a real
collection of your favorite dance songs.

The real key to finding great dance music is to listen.
