Thanks to all the dancers who came to our last dance. We really appreciate
the support our dance has received from the community. Now, we would like to
introduce more people to social dancing. Tell a friend about our dance. If
they just want to come and watch they are still more than welcome.

Last week the Foxtrot basic class went very well. Combined with the previous
Waltz class we covered the two most basic smooth dances. The Cha-Cha move,
while simple, enabled the ladies to practice more of their turn technique.
This upcoming week the 6:30 lesson will be on beginning Country Two-Step and
for the intermediate dancers we will cover a more advanced Country Two-Step
move at the 7:00 lesson.

The song of the week is a classic East Coast Swing, The song is "Uptown"
Sung by the late Roy Orbison. there were re-makes of this song but the
original from 1960 is the best dance version. The song has a good swing
rhythm to it that can't be confused with any other dance. Like last week's
song this one can also be listened to and purchased form the Amazon.com web
site.

Resources for dancers:
Like a growing number of persons I often turn to the Web for my information.
Dance information is also readily available there. I won't attempt to list
every or any links in this letter but consider the following: Using the
search engine Google, I found: 83,700 hits for "Ballroom Dance", 12,500 hits
for "Country Western Dance", 57,600 hits for "Two Step Dance", 97,500 hits
for "Swing Dance" and 58,600 hits for "Latin Dance" Under "Polka" I got a
whopping 589,800 hits and for "Waltz" another 846,000 hits. Our site,
www.twosteptidewater.com was up
near the top for many of these searches
after sorting by locality.
In a couple of minutes I located events for many areas of the country (If I
was to travel there) I also found music lists and even on-line instruction.
Lots of the information is just a waste of time but you can't beat it for
finding places to dance, their schedules and dance related supplies.
If you like to read and have the time for it, there are many good books on
dancing available. All the local book stores carry several books related to
dancing as do the local libraries. You may even find some decent video
tapes.
If you are interested in dancing locally we have several venues listed on
our site. If you know of one that is not please send us the link. Also,
there is such a wide variety of dancers that attend our Sunday dance you can
find information on almost any club or studio in the area just by asking.
