Odds and Ends for this week's dance action in Tidewater

Šat the Memorial Day Dance Fest!

After a two-year hiatus, there's finally a UCWDC event on the Memorial Day Weekend east of the Rockies.

We're back home again in South Bend, Indiana and we hope you'll join us for a laid-back, friendly event with lots of open dancing and time to socialize with friends.

Ten reasons why you should come to the Memorial Day Dance Fest:

1. It's a friendly, non-threatening place to compete. So get on the competition floor for the first time. Or compete again after a lay-off. Come on inŠthe water's warm!

2. There are unique, picnic-themed prizes. Very cool. And everyone is invited to attend the Sunday night picnic dinner in the atrium. For $20 per person, you get a full spread of picnic favorites - and we guarantee that it won't rain on OUR picnic!

3. Like a family reunion, we have one ballroom. During open dancing, country couples and swing dancers will enjoy a fabulous California mix of music from DJs Don and Jean Kingen. As the night gets later, there's more swing music for those who need to dance 'til dawn.

4. Line dancers have a place to groove, too. While this isn't a line-dance intensive event, it is line dance friendly. Local instructors

get a chance to shine as they teach and party in the hotel atrium. DJ Bob

Boyle will play hot new dances and all your old favorites.

5. New workshop option: INTENSIVES. Take part in these small-group classes guaranteed to improve your dancing! Class size is limited to only 10 people!

6. The Princess of Fun, Deby Clark from Dallas Texas, will lead the way with games and giddiness all weekend. Win great prizes (like serious BBQ stuff) by participating in the scavenger hunt, the bingo raffle, and activities too crazy to mention here.

7. SUNDAY NIGHT. Remember those crazy Sunday night dances? The

skits? The ice cream social? They're baaaaack! There's no excuse not to

spend Sunday night dancing and laughing. The competition is over and Monday is a holiday. Wooo HOOOOOO!

8. Golf on Monday. Call Randy for info at 765-563-1111.

9. The event hotel is the beautiful Marriott in downtown South Bend. (Remember when the event was held in the Century Center? Same hotel - and most of the activities are in the hotel rather than tne convention center). A block of rooms in the hotel is reserved until May 7th at a rate of $94 per night for up to four people. After May 7, you may be able to get a room, but the block will be opened up to the general public. Don't be disappointed. Get a room now. Round up your friends and share the cost.

10. Jennifer has a NEW DUCK JOKE and new finger puppets!!

For details, go to our website, HYPERLINK HYPERLINK www.memorialdaydancefest.com www.memorialdaydancefest.com HYPERLINK www.memorialdaydancefest.com www.memorialdaydancefest.com. You can even download a registration form, an event schedule and a workshop schedule. Do it NOW and enjoy early-bird pricing through May 7.

Can't wait to see you in South Bend!

OUR POLICY: Webmasters; You are granted permission to copy any content from our web site, provided that you provide a link to http://www.twosteptidewater.com (Contact us by email if you would like a reciprocal link). We are always looking for ways to make Two Step Tidewater Virginia THE PLACE for dance information in the Tidewater area (Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Portsmouth, Newport News, Hampton Roads, Yorktown, Gloucester, and Williamsburg) - and for other dance events or dance locations which are of interest to Tidewater area dancers.  We prefer to exchange links with other dance-information sites.  To add a dance link, or exchange links with your web pages, email Will Harper or Walter Schultz.  Worthy dance events, may post to our web site by emailing a cut-and-paste ready announcement.  Your announcement can be just a text announcement or even a full web page.  We will host an ongoing web page, at no cost, for Tidewater Area dance-related activities, without their own web page.  Be sure to include date, time, cost, contact and location information for your event.  In exchange, we ask that anyone posting to our site, include a reference to http://www.twosteptidewater.com on your site and/or in your intra-group's mailing list emails.  (Not just C&W. We'll  include Ballroom, Swing, WCS, Disco, Folk, or just churches or other clubs with dances.)  We will attempt to post/remove events within a couple of days - but we cannot accept responsibility for missing an event or any other reason.  We will attempt to verify ALL links, to prevent any offensive or off-topic links, but, again, cannot be responsible for other's.
