Judy and I were
a little apprehensive before the last Sunday dance. We were worried that no one
would show up due to the Superbowl. Our fears vanished when we had nice turnout
of almost 50 dancers. Also we had an even mix of men to women. What a great
surprise!
We had a real busy weekend hosting the "DanceSport" Friday dance, the "A Time to
Dance" Saturday dance and then the Sunday dance.
Our Wednesday Intermediate WCS classes at "DanceSport" are going very well and
with a very large turnout.
Judy and I thank everyone who has made our dances and classes a success.

This Saturday, Feb 12th, Margo Hayes has asked that we host the Saturday
"Valentines Dance" at her studio, "A Time To Dance"
The dance will be from 8:30 until 11:00 with a cost of $8.00 a person. Margo
will be putting out Valentine snacks.
This Sunday, Feb 12th, we are continuing with a Cha-Cha lesson prior to our
Sunday Social Dance.
On Wednesday, Feb 16th, we are continuing with our final Intermediate WCS class
at "DancesportVA."

Fundamentals or WCS taught by Robert Breinlinger at "A Time to Dance" has moved
from 8:30 to 8pm. (See schedule below)
The TSDC group workshop planned for Feb 5th & 12th has been moved to Feb 12th and 19th.

Intermediate West Coast Swing Group Class Series at
DanceSport:
This will be a 4 hour series taught over three weeks. The schedule is
below:
February 2nd - 8pm - 9pm - $10.00
February 9th - 8pm - 9:30pm - $15.00
February 16th - 8pm - 9:30pm - $15.00
Those that pay in advance on the first night can get all four hours for $35.00.
We are requesting that students be able to partner with another. Need a partner?

- Intermediate Hustle Group Class - 8pm - 9pm.
This Hustle class is designed for dancers with at least a basic knowledge of
"Three Count Hustle". This is a five week class with the cost at $10.00 per
class or $44.00 paid in advance.

Each Wednesday - "DancesportVA"
- Intermediate Two Step Group Class - 8pm - 9pm
This Two Step Class will be a continuation of the class taught in January with
different patterns than taught during the January class. We will have no review
of basics. This is a five week class with the cost of $10.00 per class or $44.00
paid in advance. If you didn't attend the January classes, you can still
come to the March classes - they will not be dependent upon each other.

All of the patterns we will be teaching will be learned best if the student has
a partner with which to dance and practice. If you want to attend and need a
partner please contact us and we will try to help out. If you want to attend as
a single we will ask but not require the other students to rotate partners.
During all of our classes we will be teaching one move or pattern per half hour
session. Some patterns are stand alone and others build on a previous pattern.
We make every attempt to teach patterns that are "leadable" and social in
nature.

~~ Every Sunday - Roberto is USUALLY (sometimes they cancel) at Langley AFB in Hampton for a Champagne-Brunch-dance. Some fantastic deal! You pay for the dancing, and they give you the brunch and champagne for free.... You can dance off the meal, and there will still be plenty of time to get from the buffet to our regular Sunday Two Step Tidewater Dance. So, if you can get on the base, treat your lady once-in-a-while.
~~Last Monday of each month - Roberto will be playing for a dance party at the 19th Hole dance studio in Hampton, VA. 7:00 - 10:00 PM. $8/$15 couple. (From Interstate 64, take Lasalle exit going North. Go past Armistead Ave. Turn right at Tide Mill Lane. 19th Hole club is on the left.)
~~Tuesday, Feb 15th - Last day to pre-register for the Richmond 3rd Anniversary - Dance ‘It’s Magic’ benefit weekend event. Proceeds from this event go directly to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The dance is Friday-Sunday April 15th-17th, but check out the benefits for registering early.
~~Every Tuesday in Feb - Robert Breinlinger, an accomplished West Coast Swing (WCS) dancer and instructor, and officer in the Tidewater Swing Dance Club (TSDC), will teach a beginner series of 4 weeks from 8:30 - 9:30 PM. West Coast Swing Fun with the Fundamentals Series Lessons will be given at A Time To Dance ( www.atimetodanceonline.com ). Cost is $10 per lesson, or $35 for all 4, if paid in advance.

~~Every Wednesday - Walter and Judy will be hosting an Intermediate-level,
closed dance group lesson at DancesportVA
( http://www.dancesportva.com ) at
8:00 PM. Closed dance group lessons, especially at the intermediate level
are VERY BENEFICIAL. In this way, you don't have a continuous stream of "newbies"
starting every time, requiring repeated lessons of the same thing. Each
series will begin on the first Wednesday of each month, and the entire month
must be paid for at the beginning ($ 8.00 per lesson - 4-Wednesdays = $32...).
The group class at "DanceSport VA" in February. We will be teaching intermediate
West Coast Swing. This will be a fairly intense group class with almost no time
allotted to beginner material. The students should have a firm grasp on the WCS
basic patterns and technique. Singles are welcome but unless you can hook up
with a partner you will have a difficult time learning the material. If you are
will be attending as a single please contact us and we will try to locate a
practice partner.

price of a dance entry alone, you get a fantastic Buffet, from soup to desert,
including wine -- And you get to dance to Roberto. The dance floor isn't
too big, but it is sufficient for the dancers. Check his web page before
you make plans.
~~ Every Wednesday - Mitty's @ the Omni Hotel in Newport News every Wednesday night. Cindy Parks, of Country Bootlegger Dance Studio in Yorktown, will be teaching Country and Western Line Dancing and Partner Dancing every Wednesday. Doors open at 7:00 PM and there is NO COVER CHARGE if you arrive before 9:00 PM. Free Dance lessons start at 9:00 PM. Great music for both Line Dancers and Country and Western Partner dancing.

Doug High Studio - First
Friday of each month with Roberto, Other Fridays with recorded music - "Doug
High Studio" Practice Party with included lesson to all attending the practice

~~Friday February 18th Roberto ( http://robertoinc.com ) plays at the Norfolk Waterside on the food court for Dancing 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM. FREEEEE and open to all. Turn out, and this may become a regular event. I hope to see a lot of you the Norfolk Waterside this Friday. There will be plenty of room to dance while you can enjoy the vast variety of foods that are offered in the food court.
