Tomorrow, Friday August 12 - Country Western Dance - 8-11pm - Co-Hosted with Russ & Tina, who will be teaching a Pattern Partner Dance. Snacks included - $8.00

Sunday - August 14th - Mixed Social Dance - The lesson at 6:30 is Cowboy Cha-Cha. Dance after until 10pm. Snacks included $5.00

Upcoming on August 20 is our 3rd Saturday Strictly Ballroom Dance. Great Music, Tempos and Dance Selection. $8.00

In August...
Wednesdays 7-8pm
Bronze Two Waltz - If you signed up for the Bronze Beginner Waltz Series and sign up for this August Series we are offering the same package as in July. Sign up for this Series and take it again free every time it repeats within the next year.

Wednesdays 8-9pm
Beginner Two-Step - We have put together the same package for this dance as we have for the Waltz. If you sign up for the entire 4 week series you can repeat the class each time it is offered within the next year for free.

Hello Everyone,

The "New" Saddle Ridge has had their "Grand Opening" this past Thursday  night.  It's located in Hampton..... in Power Plant Center..it's in the same parking lot as "Joe's Crab House" and the "Pro Bass Shop". You can see it from Interstate 64 on your left coming from Virginia Beach.  The doors open @ 5:00pm. The cover change is $5.00. Mike & I will be there. They were opened this past weekend on Friday and Saturday night, but  haven't been opened since then. I'm excited.....to have a "New" dance club in town. Coming soon.....Cindy, of Country Bootlegger fame, will be teaching line dance & partner lesson there. She has been talking with the Manager and Event Director about the arrangements. I will keep you posted on when the classes will start and which nights.  Hope to see you there on Thursday night.

Dance tip of the week:

How Much Dance Practice Does it Take?

Walter has a simple tip of the week today. It's quick but important if you want to save money and learn.

For every hour of instruction, practice at least three. This is a good "rule of thumb" I was told to follow years ago. When I did I learned quickly when I didn't, I didn't learn. Dancing is a skill acquired through instruction to head you in the right direction and lots of practice to keep you there.

I have run across a few exceptional dancers over the years who progressed very rapidly. They told me that the lessons were very costly for their budget and were determined to make every dollar count. They took weekly lessons and made each count. When they came back the following week the material was already learned and a part of their dancing.

Practice the easy way at our Friday and Sunday night dance. We couldn't think of a better way to reinforce those lessons!  Come early, and you can get a half-hour of whole-floor practice, while we are getting ready for the dance lesson.

Dancing goes prime time on network TV!

Did you catch it?  It's over, but the results are still posted on their web site.

ABC-TV has made a bold move putting this type of show in prime time. But, it's a neat concept. Professional dancers teamed up with celebrities. After watching too many actors trying to look like dancers this should be much more realistic (we hope). They will be competing in choreographed Cha-Cha & Waltz routines so we may not get to see too much of actual learning or practice. We just hope the camera sticks with the dancing long enough for us to pick up a new move or two!

Is the American Broadcasting Network and the local affiliate WVEC Channel 13 taking a chance? After the big sensation that the latest Shall We Dance movie stirred up it might not be a big of a chance after all.

In our opinion we think it's a good start toward moving this fantastic activity closer to public acceptance once again. But, like any activity, it's better when experienced in person so tape it for later while you come out for our Country Two-Step group series.

1. Sign up this upcoming Bronze Waltz class for the full 4 weeks $35.00.
2. For the next 12 months you can repeat this class every time it is offered.

~~ Every Wednesday  - Roberto will sometimes play for dinner (and a nice, wood dance floor) at Louigi's Italian Restaurant 15400 Warwick Blvd. Newport News , VA 23601 Phone: (757) 887-0005 - Terista's Latino Bar and Grill in Virginia Beach -  or a dinner buffet (sometimes they cancel) at Langley AFB for a dinner-buffet and dance.  6:30-9:30 PM.  Hey, for the price of a dance entry alone, you get a fantastic Buffet, from soup to desert, including wine -- And you get to dance to Roberto.  The dance floor isn't too big, but it is sufficient for the dancers.  Check his web page before you make plans.

~~ Every Wednesday - Mitty's @ the Omni Hotel in Newport News every Wednesday night.  Cindy Parks, of Country Bootlegger Dance Studio in Yorktown, will be teaching Country and Western Line Dancing and Partner Dancing every Wednesday.  Doors open at 7:00 PM and there is NO COVER CHARGE if you arrive before 9:00 PM.  Free Dance lessons start at 9:00 PM.  Great music for both Line Dancers and Country and Western Partner dancing.

We will be going out for our Friday night party and packages are on sale now for this event!!!
