Hello Dancers,
Last Sunday we all had a great time and learned a new dance also. Thanks to
Clive for teaching the
lesson. As usual, the DJ did not get a chance to participate but plans to catch
up later.
This coming Sunday night Judy & I will be teaching the Samba and we are
celebrating Judy's
birthday. As usual, that means plenty of birthday cake!

Some Dance Photos are now on-line - http://classic2step.phanfare.com/
- Turn the sound on and use
the Slide Show option.

Our November schedule can be found here
http://www.twosteptidewater.com/Monthly_Schedule.htm
Tuesday night group classes at RPM dance will be continuing next week on the
27th
Wednesday night group classes at DanceSportVA will pickup again on the 28th.

~~ No group classes are scheduled for December ~~
-------------------------------------
We are approaching the home stretch for those wishing to get out and have a
great time on New Years
Eve and a few days prior. We know there are many other venues that are offering
something for New
Years but here are a few reasons to spend it with the Tidewater USA Dance
chapter at the Waterside
Sheraton.
1. - One of the few chances to get really dressed up for a night out dancing.
2. - The only chance during the year to dance on the largest dance floor in the
area and possibly
on the East Coast. The entire Hotel Ballroom is opened up for dancing and
socializing
3. - Your choice of Music and Dance styles. There will be 4 separate dance
floors available
throughout the hotel. At any given time during afternoon and evening you can
find Salsa, Argentine
Tango, Ballroom, Country-Western and Swing dance music being played.
4. - Renew old friendships and make new ones. Since this event draws visitors
from all over the
country, and many are repeats, this is the one chance we get to talk to old
friends as well as make
a few new ones.
5. - Great dance music. On New Years Eve DJ Fred Yancy and local entertainer,
Roberto Henriquez (El
Romantico) will be alternating the music chores. We always get to dance to great
music. If you want
a break from the big ballroom you can venture downstairs where I will be playing
some great Swing,
Country-Western & Hustle music until 10pm. I then get to go back upstairs
and dance with Judy!
After 12:30 am the Salsa and Argentine Dance floors kick back in until 2am at
least.
6. - If you are planning to have a few drinks, dance until you can't move or,
just don't want to
drive back home you can stay overnight in the hotel for a budget price. Wanda
did a super job of
blocking out all the hotel rooms for us at the unbelievable rate of $79.00 per
night. If you just
want New Years Eve the rate is $99.00. It's still cheap!
7. - A large portion of the profits will be donated to the Alzheimer's
Association Southeastern
Virginia Chapter - http://www.twcusadance.org/Alzheimer%20Flyer.pdf
Anyway, all this information is located on the Tidewater Chapter - USA Dance web
site. Click on the
link to our page and follow the shortcut to the NYE information page.

told that some of

The song of the week is a great Samba, "Hoy" Performed by Gloria

----------------------------
Our tip of the week is a little different. One of the Tango patterns we taught
this week in our
Intermediate Tango class contained a movement called the Contra-Check. Before I
set out to describe
the movement I did a fast Yahoo search for an appropriate photo. What I found
was several photos
and a good description on a very nice Round Dance web site.
For those unfamiliar with Round Dance it is a dance form where all the Ballroom
steps and patterns
are danced by all the dance couples in unison. All partners are executing the
same patterns at the
same time. Each piece of music is choreographed with dance steps and patterns
that fit that
particular piece of music. Any round Dancers out there that can add to this
description?
Anyway, the Contra-Check is described and shown very well at this link.
