Chesapeake Parks and Recreation has several dance events annually.
We have many holiday-related dances for our senior population throughout the year; we also have teen dances at our community centers. Our therapeutic recreation section also has dances frequently.
In addition, we have various dance classes in our LEISURE GUIDE -- social dancing, country western, Latin, East- and West-Coast swing, and others.

its monthly dances on the 4th Saturday of the month at the Norfolk Knights of
Columbus Hall in the Ocean View section of Norfolk. See location information
below.
The monthly Chapter Dances for
2005 will feature live dance music by Roberto and the other dances will recorded
music played by several different local DJs. There is a group lesson prior to
each Saturday night dance (included with the price of admission). For more
details on any of the dances, contact Hans Juhlhilde at

The following classes are offered at The Virginia Beach Community Recreation Center, Bayside. Every participant must have a valid Recreation Facility card (under age 6 mom or dad must have it). To register, please obtain a brochure at any Virginia Beach Recreation Center or any Virginia Beach Library. Ballet & Tap Ages 3-5
This class will offer 30 minutes of basic ballet, followed by 30 minutes of basic tap. Instructor Rita Joyner. Leotards, tights, ballet slippers and hard soled shoes suggested.
This class is for all would be hoofers. Tapercize is a fun, aerobic exercise using basic tap techniques. Some tap experience is required. Instructor Rita Joyner. Tights, leotards and hard soled shoes suggested.
Level I of the pre-ballet curriculum. This class is designed to teach music and ballet, stressing coordination, grace and poise. Instructor Rita Joyner. Leotard and tights suggested. Ballet slippers needed; hair must be pulled back.
Join the Rhythm of Ireland School of Irish Dancing and learn reels, slip jigs, ceili dancing, and the popular hard shoes dances. Rhythm of Ireland is tested and qualified by Ireland's Dance Commission. Wear shorts, socks, and ballet slippers.
Belly Dancing Middle Eastern Beginner Ages 13 & up
This type of dance is a form of self expression. It tones and firms your body while giving you an aerobic workout as well. Instructor Rita Kennedy. Wear loose, comfortable clothes.
Belly Dancing Middle Eastern Level 2 Ages 13 & up
For those ready to
move up out of Level I, or those with previous experience. Instructor Rita
Kennedy. Wear loose, comfortable clothes. No class 5/26.
Dance for Fun I Ages 16 & up
Ballroom dancing...basics in Fox trot, Swing, Waltz, Cha-Cha, and Merengue. Couples sign up together.
Dance for Fun II Ages 16 & up
Fox trot, Swing, Waltz, Cha-Cha, Merengue, Rhumba, and Samba. Couples sign up together. Students must have four sessions of Level I.

The Williamsburg Chapter of the United States Amateur Ballroom Dancers Association (USABDA) (Now USA Dance, Inc.) serves the communities of Williamsburg, James City County, York County, and the surrounding area. We offer weekly group dancing lessons for adults, and each month we host a dance that is open to the general public. Singles and couples are always welcome. We offer Group Lessons for most ballroom dances, including Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Rumba, and Swing. Each course consists of five one-hour classes in one dance over a five-week session. Each course will cost $25.00 per person for members and $30.00 per person for non-members, but the price may be subject to change.
