The Newtown Road exit is located in a protected turn lane, no matter which direction that you approach it from. Follow the instructions carefully, and if you find yourself in the main traffic of I 264/Virginia Beach Expressway, do a U-turn at the next intersection and watch more closely on the next pass. We locals, miss this exit all of the time - If you need instructions, you'll have to watch this closely!
From Northampton Rd: Take I 64 East (actually south), then follow the instructions from the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel
Traveling East (actually South) From the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel, coming into Norfolk from Newport News and Hampton: Continue on the I 64 East Interstate highway until you reach the I 64 @ I 264 (Virginia Beach Freeway) intersection. (Caution: if traveling on the HOV lanes, exit, Right, at "I 264 West, Norfolk, Newtown" exit, well before Exit 284A, then follow the Exit 284B instructions). ( Exit 284B Caution: Exit 284A has two forced exit lanes, stay left three lanes until Exit 284A is passed). Take Exit 284B, cloverleaf under the I 64, avoid the merging traffic. Immediately merge with the off-ramp traffic from I-64 West and take the forced exit at Exit 15A (Newtown Rd., South). (Follow the pink, blue-green, blue path). Follow Newtown Rd. South instructions.
Traveling West (actually North) on I 64, from Chesapeake, Suffolk, etc: Get into the protected lane for Newtown Rd at the near side of the Elizabeth River bridge. You will be forced into Exit 284B East (Virginia Beach). Avoid the merging traffic, but stay in the merging lane (rightmost lane) until you are forced off on exit 15A (Newtown Rd, South) (Follow the blue-green, blue path). Follow Newtown Rd. South instructions.
Traveling East on I 264 from Norfolk, and the Downtown and Midtown tunnels from Portsmouth: Immediately after passing over the Broad Creek Bridge, get into the far right lane for "Exits 13, 14, and 15 (Military Highway, I 64 East, Newtown Rd)." Get into the protected (right) lanes at the Military Highway exit. Keep left in the protected lane, avoiding forced exit and merging traffic from Military Highway (Two ramps), the I 64 (Two ramps). Merge Right (into the rightmost lane) into the Newtown Rd. Exit until you are forced off at Exit 15A, Newtown Rd., South forced exit. (Follow the yellow, pink, blue-green, and blue paths). Follow Newtown Rd., South instructions
Traveling West on the Virginia Beach Expressway (I 264 West) from Virginia Beach: Get into the protected lanes at Wichduck Rd, then stay in the rightmost lane until you are forced to exit at Exit 15A, Newtown Rd. OUR POLICY: Webmasters; You are granted permission to copy any content from our web site, provided that you provide a link to http://www.twosteptidewater.com (Contact us by email if you would like a reciprocal link). We are always looking for ways to make Two Step Tidewater Virginia THE PLACE for dance information in the Tidewater area (Norfolk VA, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake VA, Suffolk VA, Portsmouth VA, Newport News VA, Hampton va, Hampton Roads VA, Yorktown VA, Gloucester VA, Jamestown VA, and Williamsburg VA) - and for other dance events or dance locations which are of interest to Tidewater (Southside and Peninsula) area Hampton Roads dancers. We prefer to exchange links with other dance-information sites. To add a dance link, or exchange links with your web pages, email Will Harper or Walter Schultz. Worthy dance events, may post to our web site by emailing a cut-and-paste ready announcement. Your announcement can be just a text announcement or even a full web page. We will host an ongoing web page, at no cost, for Tidewater Area dance-related activities, without their own web page. Be sure to include date, time, cost, contact and location information for your event. In exchange, we ask that anyone posting to our site, include a reference to www.twosteptidewater.com on your site and/or in your intra-group's mailing list emails. (Not just C&W. We'll include Ballroom, Swing, WCS, Disco, Folk, or just churches or other clubs with dances.) We will attempt to post/remove events within a couple of days - but we cannot accept responsibility for missing an event or any other reason. We will attempt to verify ALL links, to prevent any offensive or off-topic links, but, again, cannot be responsible for other's.
