Walter and Judy Schultz in Amateur Dance Competition (Love that
blue)
Use <-Back to return to the original page
Walter and Judy are NOT professionals, they are just great dancers who
wanted to do something for the C&W couple dance scene in this area, by
creating an atmosphere where C&W, Ballroom, Swing-dancers, West Coast Swing dancers, and
even shaggers could get together and enjoy a great mix of dancing fun.
(It's obvious they're having fun, dancing!)
Walter and Judy
Schultz, our Two Step Tidewater Virginia hosts, are residents of Portsmouth's
Churchland area. They are both amateur Ballroom, County-Western, and Swing
dancers. Most weeks will find them out three to four times at local social
dance events. In addition to dancing at the local night clubs and studios,
they travel a few times a year to their favorite Country-Western events.
Some of their favorite events are the Williamsburg Virginia Atlantic Seashore
Dance Faire competitions and workshops in early Spring; the Easterns
competitions and workshops, in the Washington DC area, in late spring; the
Halloween in Harrisburg competitions and workshops. They are known and
liked by just about every Country and Western dancer, swing dancer, and ballroom
dancer in this half of the country.
Walter is a
graduate of Maury High School in Norfolk. He began dancing in 1990 with
some introductory lessons at the "Ballroom Dance Club." After a
couple years of "Ballroom" dancing, Walter was introduced to
Country-Western couples dancing by Ballroom instructor, Amy Silva. Amy
would hold these wonderful Saturday night County-Western dances in Newport News
where all the best local Country-Western couples dancers came to party.
That dancing, along with the great friends Walter found in Ballroom, molded his
desire to combine all styles in his dancing.
Walter is a
machinist by trade and since 1986 a local business owner. Walter, his
daughter Barbara, and 16 talented employees at Parkway Manufacturing Company
( http://www.parkwaymfg.com ) produce a variety of parts for industrial needs.
Parkway Manufacturing is located just across the M&M tunnel from Portsmouth, VA,
in Newport News / Hampton Roads, VA area.
Last year Walter
retired from his volunteer job as Deputy Fire Chief for Driver Volunteer Fire
Department in Suffolk. Walter had been a volunteer firefighter for 22
years. Walter is an active member of the Driver VA Ruritan Club.
Judy, a graduate
of Norview High School in Norfolk, has been a dancer since before High
School. Judy became interested in Country-Western dancing several years
ago starting with Two-Step and C&W line dance lessons at the "Banque"
in Norfolk. After she met Walter, Judy started taking private lessons in
both Country-Western and Ballroom dancing.
Several years ago
Judy decided to retire, after 32 years of service with C&P Telephone
Company. Judy is an active member of the Driver Virginia Ruritan Club
where she presently serves as Vice-President. Judy loves to read, work in the
yard and loves good music. She is a both a Redskins and Ricky Rudd fan.
Walter & Judy
will be married seven years in June of 2005. They were introduced by a mutual
friend at the "Banque" and married less than a year later.
Still in their mid
fifties, they both remain active and along with dancing, love Nascar, snow
skiing and hiking the Virginia mountains.
OUR POLICY:
Webmasters; You are granted permission to copy any content from our web site,
provided that you provide a link to
http://www.twosteptidewater.com (Contact us by
email if you would like a reciprocal link). We are always looking for ways to make Two
Step Tidewater Virginia THE PLACE for dance information in the Tidewater area (Norfolk
VA, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake VA,
Suffolk VA, Portsmouth VA, Newport News VA, Hampton va, Hampton Roads VA, Yorktown VA, Gloucester
VA, Jamestown VA, and Williamsburg VA) - and for other dance
events or dance locations which are of interest to Tidewater (Southside and
Peninsula) area Hampton Roads dancers.
We prefer to exchange links with other dance-information sites. To add a
dance link, or exchange links with your web pages, email Will
Harper or Walter Schultz. Worthy dance events, may post to our web site by emailing a
cut-and-paste ready announcement. Your announcement can be just a text
announcement or even a full web page. We will host an ongoing web page, at
no cost, for Tidewater Area dance-related activities, without their own web
page. Be sure to include date, time, cost,
contact and location information for your event. In exchange, we ask that
anyone posting to our site, include a reference to www.twosteptidewater.com
on your site and/or
in your intra-group's mailing list emails. (Not just
C&W. We'll include Ballroom, Swing, WCS, Disco, Folk, or just churches
or other clubs with dances.) We will attempt to post/remove
events within a couple of days - but we cannot accept responsibility for missing
an event or any other reason. We will attempt to verify ALL links, to
prevent any offensive or off-topic links, but, again, cannot be responsible for
other's.
